THE BAITS

The open top boilies can be fished any way you like. Whittle down one of your favourite popups, then drop a liquid of your choice into the 8mm hole in the bait. This will take up any air pockets that may give a false buoyancy when you balance the rig. Then wedge your whittled down bait in the hole and you’ll have a popup.

wedge a hard hooker in there and a bit of putty in the balancing hole in the underside and you’ll have a wafter.

The baits can be made to balance however you like with the aid of the small hole in the underside. Just stick putty to the outside of the bait until the desired buoyancy is achieved. Then using a 2.5mm drill bit, drill out part of the bait you’ve wedged inside through the balancing hole and replace it with putty. This negates the need for any putty on the rig for the crays to remove.

once the bait has been in the water for a few hours, the bait inside will swell a little and push up slightly proud of the top. A good indicator to show if you’ve been crayed during the night. If you haven’t, the bait will swell and push proud of the top. If there’s a little scoop out of the bait then there’s crays on the spot.

A handy indicator to tell if the spot may need topping up with bait.

we can make hair mounted versions, just message on instagram and we can leave out the swivels.

The barrels and tiger wafters have a bit more to them than meets the eye. They are epoxy on the outside but a material used in hydroponics on the inside meaning they can take on a small amount of liquid/flavours or oils through the small hole in the side of the baits. Use a 10ml needle bottle(available on eBay) to drip liquids into the baits. DONT USE ANTHING CONTAINING ACIDS AS THIS MAY DAMAGE THE BAITS. We can highly recommend the Ester oil from Opti baits. Failing that a mix of Minamino and an essential oil of your choice works great, as the oil helps the liquid stick to the inside of the baits. They will all just slightly lift a size 4 hook depending on gauge, and then you sit them down on the deck with putty in the hole on the underside, as with the boilies.

The corns and 12mm baits are solid epoxy and don’t take on liquids.
chunky corns are popups. The small corns and 12mm boilies are wafters.

All the baits are made from epoxy and high end lacquers.
Look after them and they will last a very long time.

Unlike all other artificial baits, once cured epoxy is an absolute solid and won’t give off VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) chemicals and smells that a carp can detect that are given off by all other plastic baits. This was something important to me when making the baits as if a carp can detect minute chemical changes in its environment then surely they can learn to avoid normal plastic baits over time.

When removing bait, go easy. The clear resin around the top of the bait is very important strength wise to stop crays da I gong the baits. Do not use it as leverage to remove the bait inside.….
